Neighborhood Guide

Midtown East

Midtown East is considered the neighborhood in the center of everything. Stretching from Fifth Avenue to the East River, and from 42nd to 57th Streets, you are minutes to shopping at Bloomingdale’s, a New York landmark since 1861, to the beauty and wealth of activities of the amazing Central Park, not to mention the core of Manhattan’s business district. Midtown East is booming with commerce and characterized by wonderful old architecture. Here you can have a Manhattan apartment in a condo or co-op skyscraper with open views and luxury amenities, as well as some loft-like spaces with oversized windows.

The iconic Central Terminal at 42nd Street and Park Avenue, the largest train station in the world, is the hub of transportation in Midtown East where you can catch many of the city’s subways as well as Metro North. Some of the great edifices in Midtown East include the Art Deco Chrysler Building, the historic St. Patrick's Cathedral, a Gothic Revival landmark on Fifth Avenue built in 1878, the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, Trump Tower and Saks Fifth Avenue. Subways include the 4, 5, 6, 7, E and M. There is also local bus service plus a water taxi and heliport at East 34th Street.
